Flying Arts is an arts and cultural development organisation which has been delivering visual arts projects and services to regional and remote Queensland since 1971. The Association has played a significant role in inspiring artists and communities, as well as helping to overcome the impacts of regional isolation and remote living.
Flying Arts Alliance Inc. (Flying Arts) embraces a spirit of adventure to inspire the appreciation, practice and professional development of the visual arts as a lifetime interest or career aspiration, and a creative life for all Queenslanders.With a proud reputation built over 50 years, Flying Arts is a highly regarded arts and cultural organisation that has made a unique and significant contribution to Queensland’s cultural vibrancy.
Flying Arts connects artists, educators and communities, offering equitable and affordable access to high quality arts and cultural services and resources across Queensland. We aspire to support and grow the life-long practice and appreciation of the arts for all Queenslanders. Our work is designed to remove the barriers that prevent access to art experiences in regional and remote Queensland and provide opportunities to enable communities across the State to develop local creative capital.
We are responsive to demand and tailor our programs to community contexts ensuring inclusivity, relevance and value.
We have established and maintained a high benchmark for service quality, which is monitored regularly through ongoing and rigorous evaluation.
We are a not for profit association with core funding provided by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Our services are supported by program revenue, corporate partnerships and philanthropy. We have Donor Gift Recipient (DGR) and Tax Charity Concession (TCC) status.

WHAT WE DO
Flying Arts’ activities extend to engaging with communities and schools and supporting and promoting artists throughout Queensland and include:
The Queensland Regional Arts Awards – our annual suite of art prizes showcasing artists from remote, rural and regional Queensland with accompanying touring and exhibiting opportunities;
By request programs – curated for Schools and Creative Communities through tailor made services delivered throughout Queensland;
Artist, Art Workers and Educators Professional Development – a series of workshops, short courses, webinars and extensive online resources;
Young Artist Development Courses – designed for young people at a formative stage of their arts-driven pursuits;
Professional Services – provided to regional artists through our membership program;
Regional Art Grants – provided through Regional Art Australia as administrator of the Regional Art Fund (RAF).
