Reminiscence pays tribute to Judith Wright and her life. On reflection Judith was a fiercely intelligent, strong and passionate woman who cared deeply about the land of her birth and the first people of her beloved country, Australia.
Artist, Fiona Rafferty and Ceramicist, Frances Smith have worked collaboratively to produce a body of work that celebrates and
pays homage to Australian writer, poet and activist Judith Wright.
Reminiscence is comprised of paintings, works on paper and ceramics by Rafferty and Smith. These artworks respond to Judith Wright’s work as a writer, poet, environmentalist, and advocate of human rights.
“The issues that Judith fought for—such as indigenous land rights and protecting the Great Barrier Reef—are issues that are still relevant today; through this exhibition we celebrate and continue her work in an effort to inspire the generations that proceed her”. Fiona Rafferty
Reminiscence was developed as part of the Flying Arts Alliance Curator Development Program ‘Curators in Space’. The curatorial team comprised of Danielle Harvey, Leanne McIntyre, Siobhan Nunan, Michelle Richards, Charlotte Tegan and Kerry Turnbull

Artist motivation behind creating work for Reminiscence
