Discuss your career or practice one-on-one with a respected arts industry professional.

Liz Nowell is an arts leader and curator with over ten years’ experience working in Australian and international contemporary art. Currently she is Director of the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane.

She can provide career advice for artists and arts workers, those interested in engaging with contemporary art or work in not-for-profit arts sectors. Use these 45 minute sessions to discuss matters most relevant to you.

Please bring questions, CVs or resumes, resources, artwork, portfolios or other items to discuss during your consultation. You will have the option to provide these to Flying Arts in advance of your session.

Your Mentor: Liz Nowell is an arts leader and curator with over ten years’ experience working in Australian and international contemporary art. Currently she is Director of the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane. Prior to this, Liz was founding CEO of ACE Open, Adelaide and Executive Director, Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia. Her curatorial project include include Invisible Border: Khadim Ali (IMA, Brisbane and UNSW Galleries, Sydney); CREATURE: Marianna Simnett (co-curator, IMA, Brisbane and City Gallery Wellington); Making Art Work (co-curator, IMA, Brisbane); Next Matriarch, co-curated with Kimberley Moulton (ACE Open, Adelaide and Koori Heritage Trust, Melbourne); putsch: proppaNOW (Adelaide Festival) and The Violet Ballet, Sally Smart (ACE Open, Adelaide).
